Going to Canada

April 30th, 2010

In eighth grade my friends and I were lucky enough to go to Canada on a band trip. We had to ride a charter bus all the way from Virginia to Canada! That was a trip all in its own. Half way to Canada we had a detour that made our bus driver get lost and we had to pull on the side of the road so that a doctor could give a girl a shot that was having an allergic reaction. Needless to say it took us 17 hours to finally get to Canada. Once there it was exciting and beautiful! We went and visited Niagra Falls of course and took the trip under the falls which was really neat. We also visited a zoo which was amazing! I have not seen a zoo that was so big and full of wonderful animals.

Just Got Hitched

April 26th, 2010

The newest thing with me right now is that I recently got married. I have to say now that I have gotten married I still don’t understand why people feel they need a piece of paper to make a marriage valid. I feel that you can still have a so-called marriage without the wedding and if for some reason things don’t go as planned then it is a lot easier to get out of. I think that marriages are in place to help lawyers stay in business. Anyhow, I am trying to keep my marriage in a good light so for now I will see the positive sides to marriage. The trouble with that is I cant seem to find the positive and that is bothering me.

The Magical World of Harry Potter

April 20th, 2010

The last book I read was the Harry Potter series, which has spawned itself into 6 movies up to this date, with another 2 more coming up. I truly enjoy reading the series since back in my high school days, and I still read them today. These books truly allow my imagination to roam free where there are no limits and boundaries, the storyline is great and fantastic, adding streaks of colours and shades to my life. Brainchild of JK Rowling, she sure is a true genius in imagination for creating a magical world with her pen as a wand!

Italiano

April 16th, 2010

Some of my friends call me the ‘Italian Girl’. In case one might wonder why, it is because I love Italian food. Need a suggestion on where to go for Italian? One may always call me and I would be glad to suggest! I love Italian food because of its taste and style which greatly appeal to me. It adds an interesting touch to my routine the way other cuisines couldn’t do to me. I love cheese, and the many variations and methods of preparing a meal with cheese as an ingredient. Call me cheesy, but I would surely go for Italian anytime of the day!

Start your day by waking up to the smell of coffee!

April 13th, 2010

The oh-so-familiar coffee smell, often a jolt to our senses that a new day has come, it also marks that it is time to wake up from my very comfortable bed! After going through a daily routine of brushing my teeth, having my breakfast, and reading the papers, I rushed to join the masses and hit for the buses. With many other people around me doing the same, when I finally arrive at my destination – My working office, that is where work is! Meetings, reports, discussions, these are part of a working lifestyle. Finally, after spending like 10 hours at work, it is time to go home, have dinner, and sleep. Getting prepared to the next round of smell of the coffee!

King of Pop – For All Eternity

April 7th, 2010

The King of Pop lives for all eternity. If I could meet anyone in the world, dead or alive, I would want to meet Michael Jackson. No one can deny he was indeed a true legend. I enjoy listening to his songs until today, I still play his songs on my players. His music style was top notch and if anyone has ever watched the movie ‘This is it’, he was indeed a very creative perfectionist who knew what he was doing and how he wanted his music to be. It was definitely a sad day when the world heard of his passing. Nevertheless, alive or dead, he’s still the King of Pop for all eternity.

Fire Extinguishers in the Home

April 7th, 2010

Fire extinguishers in the home are something that I had just never thought much about in the past. We had salt for oil fires and water for all the rest and I thought that I could control just about anything that came my way. But, my daughter started to cook and I realized how quickly things can get out of control– even for me. We were lucky the first time — but it was so easy to see how were right on the ragged edge of things getting out of our control. So, I bought her a couple mountable co2 fire extinguishers and we mounted it on the wall in the pantry. It gives me a great sense of being prepared. And, it’s set a good example of responsibility for our daughter.

A Halt on My Career

April 4th, 2010

The longest job I ever took was a Marketing position in a food and beverage company. I was there for as long as 3 years, which made me wonder how did I last so long. I did not enjoy it at all. Work was a day-to-day operational routine with no new colours. It was a dull shade of black and white. I sought after challenges which never came, it was daunting to see that it never came. I did not learn much, there was lack of personal development, and I always pondered what more there was to it. I finally took action and finally got a new job, ending the long-suffering tenure which last up to 3 years.

Where to Place Fire Extinguishers

April 2nd, 2010

The moment you need to use a fire extinguisher is not the time to think through how to use it or where it should be placed to be most available to you. Fire safety requires forethought and attention before there is a problem. There are two essential elements to choosing where to place fire extinguishers: First, you should never find yourself reaching over, past or through flames to get the extinguisher. This means that in kitchens, for example, you never want to be reaching across the stove top, over the toaster, or past the convection oven to get the fire extinguisher. Second, fire extinguishers should always be handy to the escape route. Their placement should never lead you further into a room where you may be trapped by the fire if your efforts to put it out are unsuccessful. Place the extinguisher near the doorway or other egress from a meeting place, kitchen, workshop or utility room. Remember to keep fire extinguishers properly serviced. Always aim them at the base of flames to keep fire from spreading. Make sure the type of extinguisher is appropriate for anticipated fire sources and types.
