It is said “fire is a good slave, but a bad master”. The discovery of fire by the early man was indeed a revolution. It turned out to be of vital uses. But just like the two faces of a coin, the ugly side of fire is when it goes out of control. Its consequences may sometime turn out as a disaster, a threat to life and properties. Keeping this in mind, it is necessary for us to take required measures to counteract this stubborn master. Chemically, it is the heat energy that leads to fire in the presence of oxygen. An instrument called a cheap powder fire extinguisher help to control fire. One may have certainly come across it in many of the public places like offices, schools, auditorium and vehicles too.

Fire Safety for Home
September 30th, 2010Shoot ‘Em Up!
September 28th, 2010I am a rare breed of female gamers. Now, being a “Gamer” isn’t just a label, it’s a mentality. When I drive my car to work, I will often imagine that I am in a race with a few of the other vehicles nearby. Mind you, I keep this reality game safe and within the limits of the law, but if that little red Honda picks the lane that ends up stopping as I whiz by, I feel a deep sense of victory. I enjoy video games not only for their entertainment value, but especially for their puzzles. Puzzle games are indeed one of my favorites, though I have also been known to relish a good old zombie apocalypse binge from time to time.

Year Round Produce
September 25th, 2010Oddly enough, I think my favorite place to shop is at the grocery store. In particular, I love a little market near my house that always has delicious and fresh local produce. This is perhaps my love because I enjoy cooking, so in a way picking out fruits and vegetables is similar to an artist picking out paints and a canvas. It’s all about planning projects and preparing to do something creative and delicious. The environment in large super markets can be stressful at times, especially around the holidays when mothers are forced to bring their children squalling along, but generally I enjoy the sights and smells of the food, the cart races in the parking lot, and the detective work of feeling out the ripest melons.
Not Such a Wonderland

I think I’m more attached to the notion, the idea, the concept of winter than I am to winter in reality. I live on the coast of Southern California, so winter really isn’t much of a season here. Sure, the air is cold each morning, it rains every once in a while, and I can even see snow on some of the mountaintops. But really, winter here is nothing like the true blizzard filled winter that most of the world has to go through. Yet I still am not a fan of the cold weather. I like to run in the evenings, but in the winter it’s simply too dark and cold and I find myself going to the gym and running on the treadmill frequently. I don’t mind treadmills, though they make me feel a little like a hamster on a wheel, I just prefer the streets, the sky, and the sunshine to them.
Friday Eve
September 17th, 2010I always liked that people referred to Wednesday as “hump day” because it just sounds funny, so I decided to give Thursday a special name as well. That name is “Friday Eve,” because after all you’re now on the downward slope of the week. My Thursday is going well, because there was hot coffee ready for me when I came into my humble office to keep my chilly hands warm and no emergency projects on my desk. I could have used a few minutes of extra sleep, but I suppose I can’t complain since it was my fault alone for staying up too late last night finishing my latest book of fiction.
