Fire is always accidental and can happen anywhere or anytime, if the right safety measures are not put in place. Invariably when we have a fire, panic ensues because most of us are caught absolutely off guard. In such a situation it becomes very important for all those indoors to move out, and we all head for the emergency exit. It is imperative for the these doors to be fitted with panic bolts which are suitable for all types of doors, wooden, steel, and come in different sizes to suit the requirements. And people rushing out in emergency situation are not even aware that panic bolts for fire doors have helped them escape from a near death situation. Fire safety is paramount in all buildings and panic bolts are a small but essential component of this setup.

November 29th, 2011THINGS SHOULD BE MORE EQUAL IN THE WORLD
November 29th, 2011The world needs more equality. One child shouldn’t go hungry while another enters an eating contest somewhere. An uneducated hourly worker shouldn’t be struggling to raise a family on ten dollars an hour while a CEO of a corporation makes ten million dollars a year and retires with a golden umbrella. No woman should hold a five thousand dollar purse while another one must hold two jobs to help support herself and her children. No one should be homeless while other people own several homes, which stay empty part of the year. The world needs to be more equal.

MUSIC NOT NOISE
November 24th, 2011I was growing up and went to high school in the 1940’s and 1950’s. That will probably tell anyone that I like big band, swing and the doo wop rock and roll music of those years, which I definitely do. When I hear the music from these eras, it always brings back magic memories, some happy and some sad. I really detest heavy metal rock because in my mind and to my ears, it’s just a lot of shouting and screaming, with no melody and no rhythm, just thumping. It has no romance, no soul and besides that it hurts my ears.
A VIEW FROM THE TOP
November 22nd, 2011MY DOGS ARE MY LIFE
November 17th, 2011I have two female pug dogs who are getting to be seniors and who both require special foods and medicines, which are quite expensive. One has to take compounded liver powder on her food and the other has to have compounded eye drops put into her eyes three times daily. Both require food that is purchased through a vet’s office and only sold by the case. Therefore, a thousand dollars would not go too terribly far and I would use the money at an online pet care site where I can purchase both the food and the compounded medications for the pugs!
TOO MANY JOBS TO COUNT
November 14th, 2011Now almost seventy-four years old, I have had too many jobs to count. My first job was after graduating with a two year business degree from college, which meant that I was a secretary, now called an administrative assistant! It was at a tiny office near my home where I typed invoices for two men who sold wholesale groceries to supermarkets like the old A & P stores. Always a secretary, now called “administrative assistants”, my favorite job was in the executive office of a large New York City department store as secretary to a vice president. I had the whole store to roam in and the best part was the twenty percent employee discount.

ANCIENT ARTIFACTS AT ANGKOR WAT
November 11th, 2011There is something about the mysterious East that has always intrigued me and I have always been especially interested in the ancient East. An ideal vacation would be to visit The Khmer temple complex of Angkor Wat in Cambodia that dates back to the early part of the Twelfth Century. I would love to walk among the stone temples, palaces and other structures with their spectacular and unique architectural designs and odd-looking statues of demons and deities. The view of the gigantic main temple in the complex, which was dedicated to the Hindu god, Vishnu, must be a spectacular sight with the sun setting behind it.
Most people don’t know that I was in the military
November 8th, 2011I mentioned it in answering a few of the above questions, but it is not something that I enjoy bringing up. It’s not that I am ashamed of anything I did while in service of my country but the loss of my first fiancée is so painful that I block out that portion of my life completely. Once in a while someone close to me will mention it to someone new, and they look at me askance, wondering how a plus sized girl sporting a rather extensive collection of tattoos could have possibly been in the military. I don’t feel like I need to answer questions about it or explain to them how or why. I served my country fully and faithfully for seven years and when I felt like I could no longer do so with good confidence, I asked to be relieved of duty. I was denied because Operation Desert Storm was sending my unit back overseas. Unfortunately, on the heels of my fiancé’s death, I also found out that my father was terminally ill and wanted to get home before he passed away. The only way that was possible was for me to take a dishonorable discharge for psychiatric reasons. It’s all semantics, but I got home in time to spend a week with him and then pick up the pieces of my mother afterwards.
I have a beautiful face
November 2nd, 2011I have been told that I have a beautiful face, sometimes as a backhanded compliment when what someone really wants to say, “Why don’t you loose some weight?” Never the less, I am beautiful, and people compliment me on that fact fairly regularly. It’s almost like their eyes are opening for the first time to the fact that a plus sized woman can be sexy, glamorous, beautiful and confident, and have a lovely spirit as well. Obviously my chest is rather large and it gets quite a bit of attention, as the clothes I choose accentuate features I find most attractive and blend those I do not into the background. Style is not only for the thin, I find that a retro 40’s bombshell persona fits me quite well. As far as characteristics go, I have been told that I am very intelligent and creatively talented. I agree, but myself, I would have to say that my warmth and compassion are my best characteristics.
Better Safe Than Burnt
November 1st, 2011In many institutions you can find at least one fire retardant solution. It’s a requirement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, but unfortunately in many of the same institutions the fire retardant spray is never routinely checked or maintained which can negate the safety benefits of having one. However just opting to have one is a major step in the right direction as it can effectively slow the progress of fire or even extinguish it completely. Fire retardant spray is not to be taken likely, in countless cases it has saved the lives of family members, employees and company equipment depending on where the fire broke out. If used properly it may also aid the firemen in their endeavor to save an entire building from the flames by containing it to one room. I believe everyone should invest in and learn how to operate fire retardant spray for the sake of their families or organization.
